Meet the founder Miss Andy
When Miss Andy was about 8 years old her mother, Jen, taught her how to use a sewing machine. She explained it like driving a car, and for an 8 year old that was pretty fun.
Back then her projects were tiny clothing for Barbies eventually progressing to over-the-top drag costumes, up-cycled clothing and building a small family of puppets in her tiny NYC dorm room.
Now, after working for 20 years in the television industry, she is turning this passion for sewing and building into Sewasaurus.
Sewasaurus was born from a lifelong obsession with sparkly fabrics and the colorful collection that grew from it.

We are nestled in the bustling semi-industrial district of Glassell Park in North East Los Angeles.
Our shop is just down the road from Out of the Closet thrift shop and The King’s Roost Mill and Baking School. A stone’s throw from the shop on San Fernando Road are Super King Market, Wagville Pet Grooming, Patra’s Burgers and The Heights Deli. And just around the bend on Eagle Rock Blvd is Bub’s and Grandma’s and our fave coffee spot- And Destroy.
Sustainability is not just a buzz word with us, it’s a core value.
Most of our fabrics have been sourced by hand from second-hand shops, yard sales, deadstock (unused textiles from design houses or test prints from manufacturers), and donations. Many are from a collection spanning decades by Miss Andy and her mother Jen.
We also prioritize zero-waste packaging of our findings, kits and trims. Repurposed cardboard, plant-based cellophane and compostable mailers are some of the tactics we are employing to help reduce packaging waste and over consumption.
